In a forum or message board or whatever, ignoring is best. If it's constructive criticism, that's good for retrospection, but if he's just saying your stuff is shit, ignore. Let a friend retaliate; it's better, and makes the person feel dumb. I would have if I had seen it. Since I'm not really an artist, I think I can insult some people pretty good. What's the use of objective criticism anyways, in art? I'm trying to understand. It seems like whatever piece you create depends on your state of mind at the time, and your feelings, and various other random factors. Hm... what am I getting at... Oh, that guy is a douche. Wait no, that's not it at all, hahah. I just have this growing affinity for artists because they see the world so differently... Like opposite. Hm, again, words fail to express what I'm thinking.

I took the journal down already. It basically read:

"Calling someone's work 'shit' typically makes the person under attack either A). ignore the antagonist, or B). bicker with him/her in an adolescent manner; either way, the provoker appears foolish.
I should have spent about 10 seconds on this, and focused more on my art, right?"

Quite stupid really. People like what they like, and sometimes they could care less about even considering to attempt to find meaning or purpose in a piece.
